FILMED IN TERLINGUA, TEXAS
While you won’t see the town of Terlingua on the cast list, it’s every bit a character in the film. Standing in for the fictional Quicksilver, the Lone Star State’s favorite ghost town adds a timeless feel to the story. Beautiful, rugged and living by its own set of rules, it’s the kind of place made to explore with a six-shooter on your hip.
Going on location in Terlingua with locations including an abandoned mercury mine and the ruined mining town that surrounded it made for a challenging shoot, but it was worth every drop of sweat to give Frank & Penelope the kind of lived-in authenticity that’s impossible to replicate on a sound stage.
